The vision for Creekside started as a group project in Leadership Central Montana and came to life as the result of a community effort to “Recharge Our Community”, also known as ROC. A subgroup of ROC, the Youth Engagement Committee, evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of Lewistown and conducted an extensive survey to find out what was needed to retain and attract young families. The community spoke overwhelmingly in favor of the need for a family-friendly community gathering facility. Project partners also saw this “need” as a way to enhance the downtown economy by increasing activity in the area.
The project site was selected not only due to the close proximity to Lewistown’s historical downtown, but due to the property’s amenities including Main Street access and visibility, Big Spring Creek, and the Lewistown Trail Sys-tem. An added bonus to the project is the opportunity to turn an abandoned commercial site into a welcoming, beautiful, and functional facility. This is a place where community events can take place, tourists can stop to rest and learn about area activities, and everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of our community; right on the banks of Big Spring Creek. Your support will help transform this vision into a reality.
